In
1998, after being taken to court to break the original
agreement and after having had to spend thousands of dollars
on attorney fees & travel costs, Kirby's ownership was
transferred solely to Oulton. |
Remarks:
"A True
Champion Is Not Made In The Ring, Only Recognized"
“Kirby” finished his title
after being shown only 8 times total, with a BOB and group 2
from the classes. He has won 31 all-breed Best In shows, as
well as the 1998 World Show (16,000 entries), the 1998 Canadian Royal Show and
the 1999 Westminster KC show, a triple crown of sorts in the
dog world, never accomplished before or since. He won BOB at
the Papillon Club of America's National Specialty three
times. He won several other independent specialties. He is
the oldest dog to ever win the prestigious Westminster KC show
at 8 years of age and also the only Papillon in history to have
ever won Best In Show at Westminster.
Kirby was one in a
litter of 4 born to Rico and Gypsy. The puppies are pictured
on the index page,
where they are all in the basket. That litter also includes
Am/Can CH Loteki Turbocharger, CDX.
Kirby’s story is a bittersweet one for me as in retrospect, I
found that I had put my trust in the wrong person. I also
trusted the American legal system and found out it favors
those that have money rather than those who are in the
right. You can read The Loteki Story
for more details about this sad period in my life.
